TV’s least glamorous spin-off [Gossip Girl]

Posted in gossip, Gossip Girl, North Americana on December 13, 2008 by jetsamjr

Remember how before the Gossip Girl mobisodes were about Dorota, they were about Young Rufus and Lily in Love? And remember how I was chuffed that YR&LiL had seemingly been rejected, because why do any sort of series about a boring couple no one cares about?

Well now it turns out that the real reason that idea wasn’t used for the mobisodes is because it will likely be used for the forthcoming Gossip Girl spin-off. To put that another way, the spin-off will be about Rufus and Lily’s rockin’, ill-fated ’90s romance. (Kelly Rutherford and Matthew Settle would not play the roles, der.)

Snooze. I hate this.

Ricki-Lee Marked for love [Australian Idol]

Australian Idol

Ricki-Lee, who divorced her husband of one year not long ago, is not dating Idol wannabe Mark Spano, according to her rep. “Ricki 4 Mark” is one of those rumours that I never heard of till someone denied it.

Besides, Australian Idol has been over for a week. Can’t we just forget about it already?

The final Cylon revealed… sort of [Battlestar Galactica]

Battlestar GalacticaSyFy Portal reckons the final Cylon is one of these five Battlestar Galactica characters: Lee Adama; Felix Gaeta; Laura Roslin (OMG it will be sooooo lame if it’s her); Ellen Tigh; or Cally Tyrol (ugh, no thanks). What, no Dualla?

My money’s on Gaeta.

When will they make a Count Duckula movie? [Buffy the Vampire Slayer]

TwilightI went to see Twilight today. Surprisingly, I didn’t think it sucked (pun intended) – which is weird, considering that the book series on which the movies is based is execrebly awful. Seriously, don’t read them.

Anyway. Some folks are wondering whether Twilight‘s runaway success might push along the long-hoped-for Buffy movie*. And when I say “some folks” I mean “the geeks at io9 who aren’t exactly objective about the whole thing”. But still: Buffy movie, neat! (SMG will never go for it, but it’s not like the role hasn’t been recast before, right?)

*Yes – I realise there has already been a Buffy movie. You know what I mean.

Shannan Ponton might just be… [The Biggest Loser]

Posted in Australiana, gossip, The Biggest Loser on November 23, 2008 by jetsamjr

The Biggest LoserShannon Ponton’s possibly bitter ex-girlfriend Jaime Wright claims that she split up with The Biggest Loser‘s loveable boofhead because he verbally abused her, and she feared he’d become violent. Dun dun!

Ponton and Wright – who News.com.au inexplicably refers to as one of Sydney’s “it” couples, really?! – recently ended their six-month relationship, after Ponton allegedly became abusive during a trip to Bali. Says Wright:

“Pathetic bitch’ was his favourite thing to call me… He would be very aggressive, in my face and screaming, telling me I was a liar and a nobody with no friends. He told me everyone liked him because he is a TV star.”

Too many roids, maybe?

Michael Cera must die [Arrested Development]

Arrested Development

Good news: the Arrested Development cast is super-excited about shooting the long-awaited movie next year. Yay! Bad news: one unnamed castmember isn’t interested. But it’s obviously Michael Cera, who already said he didn’t want to do the movie.

Gah. Cera has basically played George Michael Bluth in all his subsequent films anyway, so I don’t see what the problem is – at least if he signs on to the AD movie no one will be able to accuse him of only being able to play the same character, since he will literally be playing the same character.

Anyway, the movie will go on with or without Cera.

Cancelled…? [Heroes]

Heroes

There’s a rumour going around that Heroes has been secretly cancelled “without wrapping storylines or telling the viewers”. Hmm.

Zac Efron hates screaming fans [High School Musical]

High School Musical

but who can blame him, really?

Zac, his fake girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens and their High School Musical 3 co-star Ashley Tisdale have been accused of being ungrateful, after they reportedly dumped gifts given to them by fans at the film’s Sydney premiere on Monday.

The trio were all allegedly fighting with each other on the day of the premiere anyway, so it’s no surprise they weren’t in the mood to accept mountains of teddy bears and flowers. But seriously: what are they supposed to do with all that junk? Fly it back to California and put it on a special shelf in their bedrooms?

Good news, everyone [Futurama]

Posted in Futurama, gossip, North Americana on November 13, 2008 by jetsamjr

FuturamaThe last Futurama straight-to-DVD movie is being prepped for release, but it might not be the end of the series: executive producer David X. Cohen reckons that there could be more DVD movies, or even another actual TV season of the show.

I don’t think the new Futurama has, in general, been as good as the old Futurama. Nevertheless: it’d be neat if the show came back.

Gossip Girl gains weight, Taylor Momsen loses it [Gossip Girl]

Posted in gossip, Gossip Girl, news, North Americana on October 14, 2008 by jetsamjr

Now that people are actually watching Gossip Girl instead of just writing about it on the internet, The CW has ordered an extra two episodes – bringing the number of instalments in season two up to 24. Better watch that you don’t get bloated, Upper East Siders.

… not that bloat is a problem for Taylor Momsen, who claims that her slight frame is the result of being “naturally thin“. ” My mom’s really thin, and I’m tall,” she says. “Good genes.” Uh, you don’t have to rub it in, Taylor. All you naturally large fatties can take comfort in the fact that at least she has a really bad hair-do at the moment.
