I always said Buffy was a little two-dimensional [Buffy the Vampire Slayer]

Now this is awesome. Buffy the Vampire Slayer was very nearly made into a Saturday morning-type cartoon, complete with imitation Sarah Michelle Gellar, and here’s a peek at what might have been:

This three-minute animated snippet is literally better than the whole of season seven.

  1. Flotsam Snr Says:

Imitation SMG – but is that 100% proof Head, Hannigan and Brendon?

    Tres good imitators if not.

  2. Yes, Hannigan, Head and Brendon are real. SMG backed out because of all her other important projects, I guess.

  3. Okay, that was pretty neat, and fake-SMG was pretty convincing. Circa Season 3 though, back in the high school days when Willow wasn’t as lesbian. Of course lesbians and cartoons don’t really mix. And yeah, Season 7 sucked big time.

I remember Head and James Masters were on Rove a few years back and they were talking about how the whole cast goes to the fan conventions, and Rove asked what SMG was like at those, and they both just looked at him and laughed, saying “Er, she doesn’t go to the fan conventions”. And don’t get me started on her refusing to go back to Angel for the series finale… they had to use a stand-in blonde girl with SMG voice overs! Way-to give back to the fans (and to Joss who gave you your break), SMG.

  4. Oh I remember that… wasn’t there an ep where Angel was chasing Buffy in Europe, and you only ever saw the back of her head or something?

I don’t know why she thinks she’s too good for Buffy, it’s not like she’ll ever do anything else ever again.
