Big embarrassment in the Big Apple [Australia’s Next Top Model]

The Sydney Morning Herald‘s esteemed telephile Ruth Ritchie sums up why last week’s episode of Australia’s Next Top Model and the girls’ trip to New York City was so cringeworthy:

“The cringe factor this week was unavoidable when the final three pretty string beans ventured to New York. It must be almost impossible to have an original take on that town, especially when fashion is involved, but as our last little hopefuls leapt from cliche to visual cliche, a few sad truths emerged… We are minnows. As those girls sashayed through Times Square and gazed up at the gigantic billboard of the real Next Top Models, Tyra’s gang, the utter stupidity of the exercise screamed down Broadway. It is only when worlds collide that our voiceless pissy suck-uppedness is apparent.”

The only thing wrong with this is that they assume the America’s Next Top Model girls are the real thing. They’re not. The show’s even trashier than Australia’s Next Top Model and that’s saying something.

  2. Ruth’s just jealous.

Jealous she can’t wear one of those hideous outfits? Perhaps she wants to wear the blue bathrobe that’s making Alex look huge.

That green thing is just undescribable.

    hmm make that indescribable.

  5. Australia’s Next Top Model season three winner Alice Burdeau is the most successful of any of the Next Top Model winners in the world, including the US. She’s working on the runways around the world and is doing high-end fashion editorial – that’s better than any of Tyra’s winners so far.

This year she’s done New York Fashion Week for the fall Charlotte Ronson, Marchesa, Marc Jacobs, Proenza Schouler, and Tory Burch shows.

She opened the fall Jean-Charles de Castelbajac show in Paris

Mario Testino photographed her for the D&G fall ad campaign.
