Mortal enemies [Battlestar Galactica – Guess What’s Coming to Dinner?]

You know for such a deadly serious episode, this week’s instalment of Battlestar Galactica sure had a facetious title.

Actually the phrase I found myself muttering a lot through this episode was “uh-oh spaghettios!” The Basestar jumps into the fleet sans Demetrius? Uh-oh spaghettios! Gaeta has his leg sawn off? Uh-oh spaghettios! Athena goes batshit and guns Natalie in the guts? Uh-oh spaghettios! The hybrid wakes up and transports Roslin, Baltar and a gang of angry Cylon centurions off to gods-know-where? You get the picture.

I love that we’re finally in the midst of a string of episodes where stuff is actually happening… except for the quorum-of-12 scenes, that is, which are still dull as ditchwater. I feel a little sorry for Jamie Bamber, who’s been demoted from action-packed Viper battles to tedious round-table discussions; I’m not sure the writers know what to do with Apollo at the moment but I hope they figure it out soon.

Next week it looks like I’ll have to put up with a little more of the hybrid (blech), but on the bright side: Roslin and Baltar, reunited at last! Can’t wait to see how their respective new-found hard-ass/mystic leader personalities play together…
