“Nobody’s ever [beep]ed me the way you just did” [Gossip Girl]

Gossip Girl‘s raunchy new promos are copping a bit of flack for being a bit too, well, raunchy. EW’s Popwatch blog writes: “The only thing that really makes this ad stand out is just how aggressively it objectifies the show’s stars… this feels more exploitative than ground-breaking.”

Ye-es… but Gossip Girl kind of is exploitative, and that’s why we love it. The whole point of the series is that it objectifies a clique of unrealistically good-looking, spectacularly wealthy teens whose unrealistic lives we aspire to.

The CW is unrepentant: “We wanted to create a provocative campaign that stands out from the competition and reminds viewers of some of the ‘OMG’ moments that have made Gossip Girl one of the most buzzed-about new shows on television.”

Still, I gotta admit that I gasped, then giggled, when I saw the promo where Serena tells Dan that no one’s ever “[beep]ed” her like him. Okay, maybe that is kind of an exploitative edit.

Watch the kinky clips after the jump. OMFG!
