The Simpsons booted out of Venezuela [The Simpsons]

This news is so random, given that The Simpsons hasn’t been controversial since, like, 1990: our favourite family has been ripped from Venezuelan screens after officials declared that the long-running cartoon is in danger of violating the country’s Law of Social Responsibility in Radio and Television.

The Simpsons has been around for almost 20 years, and now officials deem it unsuitable for TV? Way to be up to speed, Venezuela – at this rate they’ll likely start to kick up a stink about South Park in 2015, and Family Guy sometime in the early 22nd century.

Venezuela’s National Telecommunications Commission didn’t say exactly what was so offensive about The Simpsons other than that it’s “unsuitable” for children. The cartoon’s been replaced by Baywatch: Hawaii, presumably a better fit for the kiddies.
