I hate to report bad news about Joss Whedon, especially since Dr Horrible was so good (and surprisingly bleak!), but this isn’t good news: not only is he reshooting the Dollhouse pilot because it doesn’t make sense to viewers, he’s also flipping the order of the first and second episodes. Hmm - there’s shades of Firefly here, and we all know how that turned out. (Maybe Dollhouse really will need that pre-emptive fan campaign after all.)

Luckily, Joss has leapt into to reassure his loyal army that Dollhouse isn’t in trouble: “I suggested I shoot a new [pilot] and make the one I’d shot the second. It isn’t going to be buried, like the pilot of Firefly. It’s simply coming after another, slightly cleaner ep. And because unlike Firefly, it isn’t a two-hour epic which introduces everyone to each other, the onus isn’t on the new ep to explain a million things.”

Phew? I hope?

As previously established, Gossip Girl’s pantheon of ingenues wear some of the worst clothes you have ever ever seen, ever. Fortunately the trend seems set to continue on in 90210, if this abomination worn by starlet AnnaLynne McCord is any indication. Phew!

Channel Seven bigwig Tim Worner has politely told all the people who are bashing the US Kath & Kim without having seen it to cram it. Coincidentally, the US Kath & Kim is likely to air on Worner’s network later in the year, which I’m sure has nothing to do with his request.

Speaking of K&K, Selma Blair has displayed a mean comedic streak (”mean” in every sense of the word) at the TCA tour. When a reporter at the TCA press tour asked Selma if she and Molly Shannon - who are only eight years apart - can convincingly play mother and daughter, she offered this cheeky riposte:

“Actresses play different people all the time… It’s weird. It’s this thing called acting, and so you just, like, play different characters that aren’t your age or anything. I mean, I think. I don’t know.”

Heh.

This result isn’t exactly unexpected given that Big Brother (with Kyle and Jackie O’s help) practically begged viewers to vote to evict Terri’s rivals:

Even though she’s an avowed supporter of a racist, backwards political party… I think it’s kind of sweet that the old duck won.

No, me neither.

But it turns out that after Shannen Doherty was booted off the show Brenda disappeared to London to study drama at the end of season four, she went on to become a successful theatre actress and is now a director. She returns to West Beverly High to direct the school musical, because that happens all the time in real life.

When Project Runway exits Bravo, the network might replace it with American Artist, a new reality series from Sarah Jessica Parker’s production company. Get this:

“The hourlong show has been described … as a Project Runway-style competition series that takes on the art world. Aspiring artists compete to produce various styles of artwork (painting, sculpting, etc), which is then judged by a panel of experts.”

Wow, that sounds really… contrived. Isn’t SJP meant to be classy?

So there’s this new Australian pilot being shopped around the networks which bills itself as a cross between Gossip Girl and Veronica Mars… where “billing itself as a cross between” apparently means “ripping off”.

According to a press release, Revolution revolves around Amanda Prescott, a rich and beautiful young thing who was lifted out of poverty as a child by her megabucks stepfather and now lives in an exclusive gated community, rife with elitist cliques called the Mermaids and the Tritons. Anyway, Amanda’s life goes to hell when her former bestie enrolls at her wealthy high school on the same day she discovers her boyfriend is cheating on her. Presumably there is also some sort of mystery.

Actually, I decided midway through writing this post that I don’t care if it’s a big rip-off. It’s the nature of teen drama to cannabalise itself, so I’m willing to be forgiving… provided the cast is very, very good-looking.
